About us

The Library is housed in E1- 301 & 302 of Admin Block with a total area of 8869.46 Sqft (824 Sq Mt). The compilation in the library is extensive owning 24113 volumes and has a subscription to 77 print periodicals and 872 online international journals for scholarly communication.

The central library is fully equipped with computerized RFID technology which provides self-issue/return/renewal of books, and periodicals using “Kiosk” system. Users will receive an email notification for each transaction through their institute email ID. Open Access System is being followed in the library.

Library Membership

Library membership is open to all the students, research scholars, faculty and staff.


e-Gate Register:

Biometric Fingerprint method is used for library users and visitors to record their entry and exit. Problems arising out of users not bringing their identity card has been eliminated by their biometric fingerprint method.
This method was also speeded up the process and has facilitated quick services.

Rules and Regulations
  • Students/ Staff should record their visit in the e-Gate Register scanner, entry & exit during visiting the library.
  • Library is equipped with an RFID system which provides self-Issue of books using a Kiosk. Users can use the Kiosk to issue the library books
  • All members of the library are required to produce their ID card when the library staff demands for checking.
  • Complete silence is to be maintained inside the library. If conversation is necessary, that should be in low tone only.
  • Personal belongings like files, folders, bags, jerkins, umbrella etc., are not allowed inside the library.
  • For the benefit of its users, the library is following the open access system.
  • Misplacement of books in the different locations is not acceptable
  • The books, current journals, back volumes taken out the racks shall not be replaced. They should be left only on the tables.
  • The arrangement of chairs and other furniture in the reading area should not be disturbed.
  • All library users are advised to follow proper dress code.
  • Any member found to violate the library rules, the competent authority will take necessary action
Circulation Section

The circulation section houses and circulates books on a wide range of topics from academics to general books. Book titles suggested by the experts, faculty members and students are arranged in the stack area according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme. Following are the eligibility criteria for borrowing of books from the library.



Kiosk (Self Issue)

Users themselves can issue the library books by using the Kiosk. After issue of books through the Kiosk, a printed receipt will be issued for confirmation of the transaction detailing the check-out date, and the return date deadline, which one needs to deposit at the circulation desk, while leaving the library. Users will receive an email notification for each transaction through their institute email ID. Kiosk can checkout up to 5 items in a single transaction.


Book Dropbox

  • Book Return Dropbox is located at the entrance of the library.
  • Dropbox gives 24/7 access for users to return the borrowed item(s).
  • Each transaction is acknowledged with a printed receipt and an email.

Working Saturday - 8.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday (Holiday) & Sunday - 9.00am to 1.00pm
(Library is closed on all declared holidays)

Sections




Childrens Section: A good collection of multi-coloured picture books, interactive popular fiction and magazines are included in this section.




Kindle eReader Section: Pre-loaded eBook reader (Amazon Kindle) is available in this section for user’s in-house reading purposes.


Services


DELNET

DELNET provides services like browsing of Union Catalogues, Inter Library Loan and Document Delivery Services. Readers can access the catalogues of other libraries through DELNET portal and request the required books/documents to be procured from these libraries on loan for a limited period.

Central Library provides Article Request service through DELNET Consortium facility. Users can approach the Librarian for furthermore assistance.


Reprography

Reprography facility is available in circulation counter on payment for photocopying library materials with limited pages.


Scanning & Printing

Picture or document and article (journal / magazine) colour scanning facility is free of charge for library users. Print your digital library contents, which defaults black and white printing with cost of 1/per page. For this service purpose Ricoh Laser Multifunction Printer (MP2555) is available in the library.

Digital Library

Electronic journals remote access facility is enabled to all through (https://idp.psgitech.ac.in). All subscribed resources are available for remote accessible by using official email id of the users.





Remote Access

Electronic resource access purpose, 30 (Lenovo IdeaCentre A10 3) systems are available in the Digital Library section. Educational, research and development purpose, users can fully access this facility. Digital library working all days upto 12.00 (midnight) and biometric fingerprint door access control is an access control method for digital library entry and exit.


Repository

Question Bank

Previous year university question paper archives available open access through Web OPAC (http://library.psgitech.ac.in). library contents, which defaults black and white printing with cost of 1/per page. For this service purpose Ricoh Laser Multifunction Printer (MP2555) is available in the library.


Projects

Previous year student’s projects are organized with download provision. Students can use for their literature review and further research work.

OPAC

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is a tool used for searching the status of bibliographic records available in the library. Web OPAC worldwide is accessible 24/7 and also provides information about new arrivals of journals / books, issued books, on-shelf books etc. in the library. OPAC includes multiple search, results filter option and bibliographic detail view features. The cover image of new arrivals will be displayed through OPAC for users' awareness and instant attention.
