The NSS team of our college visited the orphanage named "Jeevakarunya Ashram" in Periyanayackanpalayam, Coimbatore on Saturday, 1st October 2016.This trip was aimed at selfless service to the orphanage students by our NSS team, under the guidance of our NSS Staff Co-ordinators Mr.P.Chinnaraj and Mrs.V.Vilasini, who helped us plan the event successfully.
26 NSS Volunteers have started the day with the trekking activity at Palamalai hills in Nayackanpalayam, under the supervision of our staff co-ordinator Mr. Chinnaraj. We teamed in 6's and went for the trekking activity. This developed our team work and co-ordination. We reached a perumal temple at the top of the hills and volunteered in serving food in "Annadhanam" at the temple. This event gave a great chance to develop a helping motive in the student minds. This event made the students more selfless and active in their works. After serving the people we left for the orphanage visit.
In the orphanage we started off with introducing ourselves and the orphanage students. We conducted games and other activities for entertaining the kids. We also performed a mime activity for the students that was a totally new experience for them. We then distributed sweets and some snacks to the students. We gifted a carom board and a shuttle racket set for them too. Few of our volunteers even taught basic topics in computer science. We mingled well with the students. This trip altogether developed our interpersonal skills and made us socially interactive.
More than all these we tried to inculcate some human values and good thoughts in those students. We look forward to our next NSS plan to be successfully accomplished the same way.
