LEEDS UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCES Sharing on 10th of August, 2016
A lecture was organized at the E4 seminar hall on the 10th of August, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The session was titled "Leeds University Experiences?. The lecture was on Global Education and the chief guest was Prof. D. Muralidhar, Training Manger, PSG College of technology and the PSG iTech students who visited the Leeds University, UK for their 4 weeks internship in their respective fields.

The guest lecture kick started with the prayer song sung by J. Jayeeta (II BE ECE), Akhila Joseph (II BE MECH) and M. Karthi (II BE EEE) that brought a serene atmosphere around us. Following the prayer song was the welcome address given by our faculty advisor for ISTE, Mr.T.R Raghuram, Asst. Professor, ECE. He introduced the faculty coordinators from each department. Following this, the Chairman of ISTE, Mr. K. R Ashwin Kumaran (III BE ECE) proposed the list of activities for the academic year 2016-17. He also introduced to the gathering, the office bearers of the ISTE chapter. The introduction to the chief guest was done by the Vice Chairman of ISTE, Ms.S Alagammai (III BE EEE).


Prof. D. Muralidhar gave a talk on his experiences at the Leeds University where students from different countries explore the opportunities by doing internships. Students from PSG iTech were also a part of it. The students are offered sessions on Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Smartphone, Entrepreneurship and many more modules. Students could choose their modules on a first come first serve basis. There were hands on sessions in which students from PSG excelled really well. He also shared his views on the accommodation, food and the weather prevailing there, with a few snaps and how they got accustomed to it. He also cited examples from the Robotics and Autonomous Systems wherein robots were used to click pictures from tunnels where humans could not enter. He also added his experiences at the Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). He motivated us to pursueinternships abroad.

The students from PSG iTech who completed the internship at Leeds University, UK also shared their experiences. Mr.K.Gokula Kannan(III BE MECH) shared his experience of attending the Robotics and Autonomous Systems and the Entrepreneurship modules. Mr.B. Kavin Arasu (III BE ECE) shared his views on attending the Robotics and Autonomous Systems and Smartphone modules. Following this, both the chief guest and the students were felicitated.



The session concluded by a vote of thanks by the Joint Secretary of ISTE Mr.Abbas Theen(II BE ECE). The session was informative and gave a new platform for internships and also was interesting to listen to the experiences.
