Industrial Visit to ACE COMPONENTS Pvt Ltd, Hootagalli on 17th August 2018
ACE components started its manufacturing on 30th October 1981 at Hootagalli.
The second-year -EEE students (51) accompanied by two faculty members, visited the factory on 17th August, Friday 2018. Mr. Arun Kumar an employee of the company, addressed the students and introduced the ACE components factory, and advised to follow a few safety precautions while visiting the company. He explained the different stages in the manufacture of the resistor. The give application of resistors used for various power ratings and also in laboratory experiments. The primary raw material is a Quartz tube of a large number of sizes. The Resistor of different types with different colors gives the information of its construction material.

1. CARBON FILM RESISTORS
Ace high stability Carbon Film Resistors are coated with a thin film of highly pure carbon on high alumina ceramic rods by pyrolysis, under controlled conditions. The final ohmic value is achieved to close tolerances by uniformly helixing on precision imported machines using low IRV, to ensure high stability and long life. The lead wires are welded to the end caps with Electro Tinned Copper wire, weld strength tested online, pulsed to withstand short term overload, coated with multiple layers of epoxy, and colour coded with four colour bands (E-24 Series) to international standards.

2. METAL FILM RESISTORS
Nickel-Chromium alloy deposited by sputtering process on high alumina ceramic rods. The film is fully stabilized to ensure long life and reliability. Fine helixing is done to get accurate values. Axial leads made of high conductivity Electro Tinned Copper wire is welded to the pressed end caps to ensure rigid construction. Multiple layers of light blue color epoxy are coated to ensure high insulation, voltage proof, and protection against severe tropical environmental conditions.

3. METAL OXIDE FILM RESISTORS
Ace Metal Oxide Resistors offer excellent performance in applications where stability and uniformity of characteristics are desired. Metal oxides can also replace many wire-wound applications. Ace Metal Oxide Resistors are protected by special grade silicon resins to ensure rated power dissipation and long term stability.

5. ZERO OHM RESISTORS
Zero-ohm resistors are interconnection components between two points on a P.C. Board. The zero ohms resistors are a substitute for a jumper wire. These are very helpful when it is to be fed to an automatic component insertion machine. The value of a zero-ohm resistor will be < 0.007 ohms. Sizes available are in1/4watt &1/2watt dimensions.

This industrial visit was very useful for us in terms of getting an exposure to industrial practices and to understand the relations between theory and practises. This visit will also be helpful for us to identify projects and placement opportunities in such industries in future.
