Sky Gazing Session - Super Blue Red Moon on 31st January 2018
The astronomy club of PSGiTech arranged a special sky gazing session (31.01.18)
for the students, faculty, staff and family of PSGiTech to witness the rare celestial
event which the NASA named as "Super Blue Blood Moon". The sky in its dazzling mix
of red, orange, purple and blue, was mesmerizing. As the moon
entered and exited the umbra and penumbra of the earth, it turned
from its usual aurora to deep red, then black and finally as the eclipse
reached its end the moon was back to original self. Nearly 100 members
(students, faculty and family) watched the entire show that the
celestial objects staged for us. An event, which cannot be forgotten,
memories that'll never be erased,lunar eclipse proved to be an unforgettable experience.
The Astronomy Club of PSGiTech had organized a star gazing event on the
evening of 1st February 2017. The event being first of its
kind in the campus created great enthusiasm among the members of
the astroclub. The event was organized to help the club members gain knowledge
about the night sky viewing basics, enjoy the cosmos and feel its vastness.
