Report on visit to Regional Space Centre - Coimbatore, 26th November 2022

When it comes to knowing about space and related technology, it is always fun isn't it? The Regional Science Centre, near Codissia, Coimbatore, is one place where you can learn all about space and other scientific tech. As far as science is concerned, this place is a holy pilgrimage. Inauguration Of Astronomy Club for The Academic Year 2022-2023, 19th November 2022

On 19th November 2022, Astronomy Club of PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore conducted its inauguration for the academic year 2022-2023 between 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM at ECE Seminar Hall. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. K ASHOK, Scientist, from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Trivandrum, Kerala.

"The Wandering Earth" on 27th and 28th May 2022

The Astronomy club of PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore conducted a talk event on the topic "The Wandering Earth" on 28th May, 2022 between 11 am to 12:30 pm in the seminar hall of Civil block (E5). Dr M Chrisphin Karthick, Scientist-C & Deputy head SCOPE, Indian Institute of Astro Physics (IIA), Bangalore was the chief guest for the event. The event was graced by the presence of our PSGiTech Dr G Chandramohan, Principal, Dr M R Srinivasan, HoD Physics and the faculty In charge of Astronomy club Dr S Maruthamuthu, Associate professor Department of Physics, along with the other department faculties and 70 students.

Sky Gazing Session - Super Blue Red Moon on 31st January 2018

The astronomy club of PSGiTech arranged a special sky gazing session (31.01.18) for the students, faculty, staff and family of PSGiTech to witness the rare celestial event which the NASA named as "Super Blue Blood Moon". The sky in its dazzling mix of red, orange, purple and blue, was mesmerizing. As the moon entered and exited the umbra and penumbra of the earth, it turned from its usual aurora to deep red, then black and finally as the eclipse reached its end the moon was back to original self. Nearly 100 members (students, faculty and family) watched the entire show that the celestial objects staged for us. An event, which cannot be forgotten, memories that'll never be erased,lunar eclipse proved to be an unforgettable experience.

SKY GAZING on 1st February 2017

The Astronomy Club of PSGiTech had organized a star gazing event on the evening of 1st February 2017. The event being first of its kind in the campus created great enthusiasm among the members of the astroclub. The event was organized to help the club members gain knowledge about the night sky viewing basics, enjoy the cosmos and feel its vastness.
