About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a comprehensive education for Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering which attracts highly meritorious
students. The highly dedicated and qualified faculty keeps the academics and research activities of the department in high spirits. The following are the key insights of
the department:
The average experience of the faculty is 11 years. Faculty are involved in consultancy projects with industries and research projects funded by the government.
Invited lectures and value-added courses offered by industry personnel on recent trends to bridge the gap between academia and industry practices.
Faculty and students industrial visits, compulsory in-plants training, and internships during end semester vacations.
To reinforce learning, the students undergo projects on their own every semester. Such projects are demonstrated to the industry community during the industry-
academia conclave.
Encourage students to attend symposiums, workshops, and events conducted by institutions like NITs, IITs, and other reputed institutions. The students are also
actively participating in various industry-led technical competitions. Students are motivated to write and publish research articles in reputed Journals along with
their faculty supervisors.
Almost all outgoing students are placed in reputed companies mostly in core Manufacturing/Automotive/ Processing Industries. A considerable number of students
are also joining for their post-graduation in reputed higher learning institutes in India and Abroad through valid competitive exam scores.

SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES

About the Department
The Department of Science and Humanities comprising Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Humanities has
been complementing and assisting the ever-evolving engineering programmes at PSG iTech. The synergy between Science
and Humanities and Engineering Departments exhibits how the interplay of science, arts, and engineering augments
engineering education with a strong foundation in science, mathematics, and ethics. The five departments with their
experienced faculty are unstintingly dedicated to preparing students to become better engineers. They guide the students in
fulfilling their social and cultural responsibilities while motivating them to adapt to the changing conditions and
encouraging them to be lifelong learners.

The Faculty of Physics and Chemistry are actively involved in research areas like Electrochemical Storage and
Dr. V JAILAXMI Conversion Devices, Nano Biotechnology, and Bio-Imaging, Dye Synthesized Solar Cells, Sensors, Electrochemistry,
Corrosion, Polymer Engineering, Organic-Inorganic Hybrids, and Drug discovery. The Department of Physics and
HoD Chemistry has received one crore from the management and has mobilized funds worth one crore from DST and

established
research laboratories – Functional Materials Laboratory and nano Devices and Applications Laboratory and are equipped with the state of the art facilities like Inverted
Fluorescence Microscope, Electrochemical Workstation, UV spectrometer, Glove box, Cell culture facility, High-temperature furnaces, Ball Milling Unit, Sonicator,
CO2 incubator, and rotary evaporator. The Department of Mathematics has well-qualified and experienced faculty with specialization in the areas of Queuing theory,
Cryptography, Graph Theory, and Discrete Mathematics. The Department of English and Humanities focuses on inculcating communication skills, soft skills, human
values, and professional ethics. The department of Science and Humanities helps undergraduate students in their final year interdisciplinary projects in the field of
semiconductors, polymers, and nonmaterial to develop and fabricate sensors, actuators, transducers, and energy storage devices. The science and Humanities
department is recognized by Anna University to guide Ph.D. students.
