CIVIL ENGINEERING

Vision

About the Department
The Department of Civil Engineering is committed to offering value-based education to students and is equipped with State of the art infrastructural and laboratory facilities required
to impart high-quality education. The Department is actively involved in basic and applied research in the field of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation
Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Environmental Engineering through R&D projects and consultancy. Currently, DST-sponsored projects in the area of Civil and
Environmental Engineering are being carried out with a total fund of Rs. 93.88 lakhs.
The faculty members constantly publish a significant number of research articles in both international and national Journals. The Department has filed four patents on Waste
Management Technologies out of which two patents were granted. The Department is also very active in conducting workshops, hands-on training, short-term courses, seminars, and
Faculty Development Programs. Since its inception, the Department has organized one National Conference and three International Conferences.
The Department has signed an MoU with Bentley Academic Institute, USA and the Bentley Academic Hub is installed in the Civil Engineering Department. Similarly, Plumbing Lab
is also established in the department in association with Ashirvad Pipes, Bangalore where the students can learn about the latest plumbing systems.
The students are consistently achieving Anna university ranks every academic year and receiving accolades in National and International level competitions. The department
envisages various student chapters including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), ISTE, IE, and ACCE (I) for the benefit of the professional career of students.

About the Department
CSE Department has well-qualified and dedicated faculty members with excellent teaching and research skills. Our faculty members are working in wide research areas such as
Distributed Computing, Security, Embedded Systems, the Internet of Things, Networking, Image processing, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics, and Software Testing. Faculty
members are encouraged to carry out research activities by setting up industry-linked labs and getting funded projects from Government and Private agencies.
The CSE Department has well-established laboratories with good computing facilities, software tools, and applications to provide practical exposure to students. The following labs
are set up in the Department in line with technology trends: Mobile and IoT laboratory, Cisco laboratory, Oracle laboratory, Cloud and Data Analytics laboratory and SAP laboratory.
Value Added Courses, Hands-on workshops, and Technical Talks are conducted throughout the academic year in order to bridge the gap between the industry and the institute.
Conducting the above-mentioned events helps the students to enhance their skill set. Our students regularly participate in Design Contests and Conferences and win prizes. The
placement for CSE has been excellent with an average salary of 6.52 Lakhs per annum. Our recruiters include top companies such as Arcesium, Amazon, Accenture, CTS,
Caterpillar, Citrix, HP Enterprise (R&D), IVTL Infoview, L&T, Oracle, Qualcomm, SocieteGenerale, TCS, and Zoho. Students are encouraged and motivated to do Mini Projects,
Online Courses such as NPTEL, Coursera, Udemy, Udacity, and industrial internships which are very much helpful during campus recruitment season.
