Hands-on Learning with Analog Discovery on 24th February 2017

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) organized a demo workshop on "Hands-on Learning with Analog Discovery" on 24/02/2017 at Integrated Circuits Laboratory (IC Lab), Dept. of ECE. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Raja. S, Senior Engineer, iSquare Systems, Coimbatore. The workshop was conducted for both first year and second year students. Analog Discovery is a design kit that can turn any PC into a powerful electronics engineering workstation. It helps to build and test analog and digital circuits in virtual environment. The USB-powered Analog Discovery helps to measure, visualize, analyze, record, and control mixed analog and digital signal circuits of all kinds. Owing to its small size, it is powerful enough to replace a stack of conventional laboratory equipments. It is driven by the free software Waveforms. The features of Analog Discovery include oscilloscope, waveform generator, logic analyzer, pattern generator, power supply, spectrum and network analyzer, digital I/O. The design kit is also supported with MATLAB software. The engineers can easily configure the design kit into several pieces of lab equipment, generating real time plots and measurements. The students were introduced to the fundamental operation of the design kit. Later, they were trained to implement basic electronic circuits (Analog and Digital) using Analog Discovery design kit. The students found it very useful for implementing their laboratory experiments and projects. For better understanding of the design kit, problem statements were given to the students by the faculty-in-charge.
