Report on AICTE-ISTE Sponsored Refresher/Induction Programme on Integration of Pedagogical Strategies with ICT for Transformation of Engineering Education (25.03.2021 - 31.03.2021)

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) of PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSG iTech) organized an AICTE-ISTE sponsored One week Online Refresher / Induction Programme (Phase II) on Integration of Pedagogical Strategies with ICT for Transformation of Engineering Education during 25-31 March 2021. Col. B. Venkat, Director, Faculty Development Programme, AICTE, New Delhi, participated and delivered the inaugural address and offered felicitations.
Dr G.Chandramohan, Principal, delivered the welcome address and Dr. P.V.Mohanram, Secretary, PSG iTech, delivered the presidential address. In his presidential address, he thanked AICTE for sponsoring the programme and appreciated the efforts taken by members of faculty in organizing the event. Also, he highlighted various innovative teaching strategies being practised in PSG iTech in alignment with National Education Policy (NEP), formulated by the Govt. of India. Later, Mr.D.Venkatesh, Asst. Professor, Dept. of ECE, introduced the Chief Guest to the participants.
Chief Guest Col.B.Venkat, in his address, congratulated the college administration for organizing fruitful academic activities on NEP. Also, he spoke about the importance for participating in Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and enhancing various skills required for effective teaching and learning process. Dr. P. Subbaraj, Dean, Electrical Sciences, in his felicitation speech, spoke about paradigmatic shift in teaching and learning process, especially the transformation from faculty-centric to student-centric and other flexibilities in learning. Also, he stressed the importance of motivating students in learning rather than merely delivering bookish knowledge, which is readily available. In addition, he requested the members of faculty to lecture less, motivate the students to interact more and enjoying giving lectures.
Finally, Dr. P. Vetrivelan, Head of the Dept. (in-charge), Dept. of ECE, and the coordinator of programme, proposed the vote of thanks. Some of the significant points shared during the session were recapitulated and expressed his sincere gratitude to the management, invitees, and participants for their continued support and encouragement. Mr. D.Venkatesh, Mr. K. Paldurai and Ms. M.Sowmiya, Asst. Professors, Dept. of ECE, coordinated the programme.
