Wellness Centre

    The objective of Wellness Centre is to improve one’s own well being and spread the positivity among the students. Our main focus is to provide personal and psychological guidance for the wellbeing of the students. It motivates for academic involvement, and helps to improve one’s own self esteem. We provide a confidential environment where students can feel free to open up their issues and find effective ways for coping up and resolving the same.

Nitya Gurukula, a People Work Centre at Coimbatore offering Holistic Counselling, Transformational Workshops and Training in Transactional Analysis and Energy Work, centered in its vision 'The Guru Within' conducted a Seminar on 03rd May 2017 for 6 hours. The program was led by Mrs. Sashi Chandran, MA, MBA, TSTA - Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (Education), CTA-Certified Transactional Analyst (Counselling), Tai Chi Trainer, and Managing Trustee of Nitya Gurukula.

As a part of Wellness Centre activity, Dr.V.Ramamoorthy, Prof & Head , Dept of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from PSG IMSR addressed the faculty and students on the topic "Ergonomics - The Right Posture While Performing Various Tasks" on 28th July 2017 from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
The chief guest Dr.V.Ramamoorthy discussed interesting cases which related to ergonomics. Then he said "Ergonomics is the study of how humans interact with manmade objects. The goal of ergonomics is to create an environment that is well-suited to a user's physical needs"

The wellness centre organized the guest lecture on "Health through Balanced Nutrition- How to Choose Wisely" on 4th January 2017 and the Chief Guest was Dr. Rohini Sharma, Associate Professor, Nutrition Department from PSG College of Arts and Science. She focused mainly on nutritious food habits and its impact on health. The session helped the students and faculty to learn to choose good nutrition that makes an individual life healthy in all aspects.

A two day training programme on "Transcendental Meditation" on 25th & 26th November 2016
A two day training programme on "Transcendental Meditation" for faculty and staff around (48 members) was conducted through wellness centre on 25th & 26th November 2016. The Chief Guest was Ms. Sashirekha Venkatesh from "The Art of Living foundation". This session was focussed on meditation & yoga and awareness about mind and body. Special mantra for Transcendental meditation was taught for all the faculty and staff.

A workshop on "Identifying Role Relevant Behavioural Competencies" was conducted through wellness centre on 11th November 2016. The chief guest was Mr. Muralidharan Nagarajan, Former GM, HR, and Ashok Leyland. About 45 faculty members and 30 supporting staff attended the workshop. He discussed topics on "journey of knowing oneself", "attitude", "transactional analysis", "effective communication" and "barriers in communication". This was helpful for the faculty to understand how to communicate effectively and to realise the importance of knowing about oneself.
