FDP on Train the Trainers - A Pedagogical Approach

A Two-day Residential Faculty Development Program on Train the Trainers - A Pedagogical Approach for Senior Faculty members was conducted during 28th and 29th June 2016. This FDP mainly focused on the shift of paradigm from covering the syllabus to emphasising on understanding of the subject matter.

Twenty two participants from various engineering colleges in and around Coimbatore had actively participated in the FDP.

Some of the key aspects of the FDP are:

  • Teaching and learning - the classical way: by Dr. Mohana Sundaram, Dean- Academics of Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Coimbatore.
  • The do's and dont's of a teacher from historic epic books
  • On how to provoke the thinking ability of students through active questioning.
  • In the session "Joy of teaching" by Dr. C. Balaji of IIT Madras, the real joy and enthusiasm that the teacher should have during and after the class.
  • Practising mind and body relaxing yoga ? Demonstration of creating interest in learning using clickers
  • The difference between the education system followed in India and abroad
  • On how to evaluate and regulate our emotional intelligence quotient
