Industrial Visit to Indian Telecommunication Industry during 15.09.2017 and 16.09.2017.

Third year B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering students along with two staff members, Mr. K. Paldurai and Ms.N.Susithra went for an industrial visit to Bangalore during 15.09.2017 and 16.09.2017.

Indian Telecommunication Industry (ITI) is the India's first Public Sector Unit (PSU) established in 1948. The company offers a complete range of telecom products and total solutions covering the whole spectrum of Switching, Transmission, Access and Subscriber Premises equipment. It has six manufacturing units and their headquarters is at Bangalore.

Network Management Systems, Encryption and Decryption for defence, Defence telephone manufacturing and Networking Solutions for Internet Connectivity are some of the major initiatives taken by the company.

SECTIONS VISITED:

  • Surface mount (SMT) printed circuit board assembly section
  • Multilayer and Double sided printed circuit board assembly section
  • Inspection and quality checking unit
  • Injection moulding Shop
OUTCOMES:
  • The visit to PCB printing and assembly section gave exposure to minute aspects of PCB fabrication and the inner circuitry of telecom products.
  • The quality checking section maintains a high degree of accuracy since it provides telecom equipments for the Indian Defence services.
  • In effect, this industry visit paved way for the students to understand the engineering aspects from the industry point of view and the role of communication engineers in the current scenario.
