On behalf of ECE Association, a guest lecture was organized on the topic 'RF and Microwave Design of Communication Systems' on 24th March 2017 at 09.30 am in E3 Seminar Hall, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research. The speaker was Mrs.S.Vijayakumari, Scientist-E, SAMEER, Chennai. She began the lecture with an introduction about the basic concepts of communication systems such as the process involved in transmission, reception and the range of various radiations. Also she highlighted the design characteristics and the practical issues involved in the system design, which proved to be very much beneficial to students. The projects done in collaboration with ISRO and DRDO were shared along with practical experiences, which enlightened the students and instilled an immense desire to work in such reputed organizations. Recent technologies in the dynamic communication world such as electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility were discussed. She also briefed about the design of transponders used in different satellites. The various filter characteristics along with the practical applications were brought to light clearly. This lecture was extremely beneficial to all.
