A brainstorming session on career development was delivered by Mr .M. Sankara Subramanian, Chief Executive Officer of Chip Test Engineering Limited on July 15th 2016 for the second and third year students of ECE Department at PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research. The faculty members of ECE Association played a vital role in organizing the session. The speaker is an Engineer in Electronics & Communication with 20+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He has headed the IC Test department of a leading semiconductor company in India for eight years and has successfully implemented many test development projects for various customers.

The speaker began the session by sharing his experiences in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He, being an eminent personality in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering conveyed the importance of the communication engineers in enriching and enhancing the society for a better living. He made the session interactive by his riveting speech. He also spoke about the core industries' expectation towards students and made them aware of the several core companies present in today's market world. The overview of the work environment and current scenario of the industries were discussed. He emphasized on learning by applying the concepts practically, by connecting the things that we learn to the real world which is in high demand in the present industrial world. He also talked on the importance of laboratory and how a student can use the laboratories productively to enrich ones knowledge. He also explained about the importance of choosing the right domain in which one wishes to pursue one's career. He encouraged the students to be updated with the cutting edge technologies and stressed on the importance of the same to survive in the growing industries. The speaker also emphasized the importance of striking a balance between personal life and career aspirations. A new perspective for the engineering was given. He also affirmed the importance of communication and soft skills that is imparted as a part of engineering curriculum apart from technical knowledge. He also asserted that the Teams play an important role in the welfare and growth of the company and team work is vital for better output. He portrayed the importance of collective collaborative efforts over the individual productivity and cited the example of our laboratory environment. He insisted on developing the right attitude and emphasized on managing people in a team. The session ended with a query session, where the students cleared their doubts. Right from the beginning till the end, he made the session very interesting by his remarkable speech and it really inspired the listeners. The bottom line of the session was that the confidence level of the students increased tremendously. The students stepped out the hall with bag filled confidence and clear vision on their career. Undoubtedly he stands as the role model for the budding Engineers.
