The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with IETE student's chapter organized a webinar on "Physical Design and its role in Semiconductor Industry" on 10th June, 2021 from 10.00 am to 11.30 am. Dr.M.Jayasanthi, Associate Professor of ECE department introduced the resource person Mr. Samuel Jigme Harrison, Senior Digital IC design Engineer, ST Microelecronics Asia Pacific Pvt Ltd, Singapore. Around 50 participants comprising, students of II and III year ECE and Faculty members attended the session. The speaker started the session, explaining the importance of physical design in VLSI systems. An extensive description of the steps involved in physical design process like placement, routing etc was given. In addition to that, static timing analysis concepts and its significance were discussed. Various online courses certificate courses available to learn IC design and Implementation were highlighted to the participants. The speaker concluded the session by sharing the different roles of Engineers in VLSI industry and currently available opportunities and internships. Overall, the session was very enlightening and the students are motivated by the knowledge and opportunities shared by the resource person.
