The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with ISTE student's chapter organized an online guest lecture on 22nd May, 2021. The guest speaker was Mr. Ramkumar, Technical Specialist, Mobile Network Division, Nokia Networks, Bangalore. Around 50 students of III ECE and 7 Faculty members attended the session. The speaker started the session, highlighting the need for 5G communication systems. He then elaborated about the different 5G /new radio use cases, the 5G spectrum and the 5G architectures. He also highlighted the speciality of 5G in implementation aspects (i.e., the open source software), when compared to the previous standards. He shared his experience on acquiring a career in the networking domain. Overall, the session was very informative and the students were envisioned with the bird's eye view of different 5G aspects and the open source components available for developing 5G systems. The session was co-ordinated and arranged by Dr. P. Reba (Associate Professor) and Ms. N. Susithra (AP), ECE.
